The refined Marseille soap, made by the Le Serail soap factory, is an authentic dehydrated Marseille soap (the water is extracted by natural drying). In fact, raw olive Marseille soap is grated into shavings before undergoing additional drying for 15 days, in order to eliminate all the water contained during its manufacture to avoid poor aging of the product, particularly when it is to countries with hot or humid climates. It will then be re-molded and then stamped. Just like raw soap, it contains no coloring, perfume, preservative or whitening agent. It is also made by saponification in a cauldron using the Marseillais process. Authentic Marseille soap, certified by the UPSM (Union of Marseille Soap Professionals).
